Sponsored by the Inclusivity Team, this study examines the ELCA’s Declaration to the People of African Descent adopted by the Churchwide Assembly in 2019.  The study helps participants on a path of learning, self-examination, and accountability so that we can faithfully apologize to the people of African Descent for the Church’s complicity in slavery and its continued legacy of racism in the United States and globally.  “Now is the Time” is intended to assist us in facing our own resistance and fear and to acknowledge the depths of systemic racism and white supremacist culture and thinking in the church.  “Now Is the Time” will be offered the five Sunday evenings in October from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Our Saviour’s Lutheran. The study is a combination of structured discussion, self-reflection, readings and videos.  If you are interested or have questions, contact Mary Barton or Elsa Larson. You may register through the sign-up sheet in the Atrium or by emailing Mary Barton.
