Full to the Brim: Even the Stones Cry Out

L:    The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

All:    And also with you.

*CHILDREN’S PROCESSIONAL—“All Glory, Laud, and Honor,” ELW #344, vs. 1, 3-5

*BLESSING OF PRAYER CHAIN (with names of all the people who make up OSLC and joined by the hands of the students and teachers)

L:    O God, we thank you for the many people who make up our community at Our Saviour’s. We thank you for the ways in which all of them serve those around them. We pray over them today and continue to pray as they meet challenges and rejoice in your many blessings. May our prayers bring them strength and joy as they meet the days ahead. In the name of Christ, we pray,

All:    Amen.

L:    It is holy to gather.

All:    It is holy to sing.

L:    It is holy to be generous, to throw our coats on the road.

All:    It is holy to celebrate justice when we see it.

L:    It is holy to shout, “Hosanna!”

All:    It is holy to remember.

L:    It is holy to gather.

All:    It is holy to sing.

L:    Here and now, let us do all of these things.

*CHILDREN’S ANTHEM—“Praise, Praise, Praise the Lord” ELW #875

L:    Let us come to God, confessing our sin and hearing the good news of life full to the brim.    God of abundance,

All:    We confess that we don’t return to you fully. We share with you the pieces of our lives that are convenient. We put on different hats in different rooms, hiding our true selves. We forget that we are called, invited, and loved with all that we are—including our mess, our beauty, our faith, and our doubt. Forgive us, and give us hearts that long to return.

L:    Friends, God sees you. God hears you. God loves you. God runs to meet you. You are forgiven and claimed with all that you are. Rest in that good news.

All:    Thanks be to God, Amen.

L:    Holy God, sometimes life feels like a parade rushing by us as we stand on the sidelines and try not to miss it! There are hundreds of things that catch our eye, but the thing we fear missing the most is you. So slow down the speed on this parade. Paint the colors of this world a little brighter. And dance through the words in our scripture passage until it is almost   impossible for us to miss you there. God we are here. We are trying to pay attention. Gratefully we pray,

All:    Amen.

MESSAGE—Pastor Tobi White

HYMN OF THE DAY—“Shout to the Lord,” ELW #821

L:    Let us affirm our faith together:

All:    We believe in an expansive love that heals the sick, welcomes the children, and sees this world as it could be. We believe in the God of expansive love, who paves the way in the wilderness, and drenches us in mercy. We believe in the God who opens wings of shelter amid the clamor of to-do lists, deadlines, and worries about tomorrow. We believe in the God who calls us worthy and longs for us as a tree longs for water. We believe in the God of relentless pursuit, who refuses to let us stay lost, even when finding us means encountering death, itself. We believe in the God who proclaims, ‘you are beautiful,’ even on our ugliest days. We believe in the God who takes the cup of sorrow from us, who waits in mystery with us, and who calls us forth from our tombs to proclaim a living and abundant grace over all creation. Amen.

L:    The peace of Christ be with you always.

All:    And also with you.

L:    Extravagant God, you have blessed us with the fullness of creation. Now we gather at your feast where you offer us the food that satisfies. Take and use what we offer here, come among us, and feed us with the body and blood of Christ, in whose name we pray,

All:    Amen.

Lord, remember us in your kin-dom and teach us to pray…

L:    As you leave this place, may you be awestruck by the beauty of this world.May you laugh, and may it be contagious.May you overflow with love for those around you.May you be effusive with hope and quick to point out joy.And in all of your living, and breathing, and being, may you find yourself full to the brim with God’s Holy Spirit, and may it change your life.In the name of the Lover, + the Beloved, and Love itself,

All:    Amen.
