Blessed are the elderly who are afraid of the future; they will trust in God.
Blessed are the hungry, for they will have comfort from the people of God.
Blessed are the immigrants, for they will be welcomed and embraced.
Blessed are the poor, for they will have enough.
Blessed are the queer, for they will pave the way for diversity.
Blessed are those struggling with mental illness and addiction, for they will find peace.
Blessed are the sick, for they will find healing.
Blessed are the homeless, for they will find shelter and belonging.
Blessed are the people who get left out, for they will have friends.
Blessed are the children who are afraid of the bullies, for they will know they do not stand alone.
Blessed are the bullies, for they will know forgiveness and love.
Blessed are the houseless, for they will experience the feeling of home.
Blessed are those exiled from their families, for they will be wrapped in God’s love and acceptance.
Blessed are those living with addiction, for they will be free.
Blessed are the refugees, for they will be a blessing to others.
Lent, 2025 Worship Benediction
Friends in Christ, as you leave this place today, go with the assurance that God goes with you. May God’s love for you give you courage; may God’s grace transform you; may God’s vision for you disrupt the challenges before you; may God’s footsteps guide you; and may God’s holy mission for your life set you free, in the name of the Creator, + Redeemer, and Sustainer.

As you go forth today, remember the words of a great spiritual leader: “Do or do not. There is no try.” When you are afraid, go anyway. When the dark side seems to have won, remember that rebellions are built on hope. And when you hear God tell you, “I love you,” do not be afraid to respond, “I know.” And may the triune God, who was, who is, and who is to come, Sovereign, ☩ Savior, and Spirit, light your way with resurrection dawn, now and always.
