The Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, & Luke)

October 14, 2026

What stories or parables do you connect with Jesus?

Matthew:

Read—Exodus 1:15-16, 2:1-4 and Mathew 2;13-15

              Exodus 2:5-10 and Matthew 2:19-23

              Exodus 19:23-25 and Matthew 17:1-8

How are Jesus and Moses alike or different? Why would Matthew want to make this connection?

Mark:

Read—Mark 1:40-45

              Mark 5:35-43

              Mark 7:31-37

              Mark 9:9-13

Why do you think Jesus tried to keep his identity a secret?

Luke:

Read—Luke 8:16-18

Luke 13:18-19

              Luke 13:20-21

              Luke 14:15-24

              Luke 15:4-7

With the help of another (an adult or older sibling), try to come up with your own parable about God’s kingdom that makes sense to you. Maybe you use a cell phone or video game or some other current reference.
